U.S. military chief said Tuesday intelligence sharing between Turkey and the United States against the terror organization PKK would continue under President Barack Obama’s administration.
Admiral Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters at the Washington Press Center that the focus on intelligence sharing with respect to the cooperation between the two countries last year has been very important.
“I see no indication that that it won’t continue,” he added.
“My relationship with (Turkish army chief) General (Ilker) Basbug, and the military-to-military relationship with Turkey, has been one that we cherish for many, many decades,” Mullen also said.
Turkey, provided with intelligence by the United States, has stepped up its campaign to crackdown on the PKK both inside Turkey and in northern Iraq, after the terror organization increased its attacks on Turkish soldiers, as well as civilians.
Turkey, Iraq and the U.S. also in November formed a joint committee to combat the PKK after holding three-way talks in Baghdad as part of efforts to boost cooperation against the terrorists.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
