Terrorist PEJAK vows to end its actions-report

PEJAK, the Iranian wing of the terrorist organization PKK, announced that it has ended its “separatist actions” due to a lack of power, Iranian state-run IRNA agency reported on Sunday.

The report citing a TV channel broadcasting on behalf of the terrorist PEJAK organization, said the organization was not considering continuing with ‘separatist’ efforts against the Turkish, Iranian, Syrian and Iraqi central governments.

“We are lacking of the power needed to stand against central governments,” IRNA quoted the terrorist organization as saying, adding that they would end their actions due to lack of resources.

Turkey and Iran have been long fighting against the terrorist movements operated by both the PKK and its Iranian wing, PEJAK. Read the rest of this entry »



Germans charge PKK suspect

German prosecutors say they have charged a 48-year-old Turkish Kurd over allegations he was a leader in Germany of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.

Federal prosecutors said yesterday that Hüseyin A. was charged on Dec. 22 with allegedly running the organization’s southern sector in Germany from February to June 2007, and Germany-wide operations after that until April 2008. Operating under the alias Hüseyin Çolak, the suspect allegedly coordinated organizational, financial, propaganda and personnel matters for the group. He faces a possible five years in prison if convicted of membership in a criminal organization. No trial date has been set. The PKK has been fighting for self-rule in southeastern Turkey since 1984. Interior Ministry gets unit for terror

The new unit is supposed to assume strategic not operational tasks and carry out research, analysis and assessments as part of Turkey’s counter terrorism efforts. The new unit will work with a limited number of personnel, specialized in their professions, says minister

A separate unit within the Interior Ministry, the Security Undersecretariat, will be established as part of the reconstruction process designed to fight terrorism, announced Interior Minister Beşir Atalay.

Turkey bombards separatists in N. Iraq

Turkish warplanes and Iranian artillery bombarded terrorist PKK organization’s hideouts in northern Iraq Monday, a spokesman for PKK, said.

“Turkish planes and Iranian artillery bombarded Aquwan and the Iranians bombarded Maradu. The bombardment lasted for about one hour starting from 7pm,” the spokesman, Ahmed Denis, told AFP.

Turkish jets bomb PKK positions in northern Iraq- local official

Turkish warplanes bombed terrorist PKK targets in northern Iraq on Monday, an Iraqi local official said.

Azad Wassu, mayor of the Iraqi town of Zarawa close to the Qandil mountains in northern Iraq’s border area, told Reuters he had no details of whether anyone had been wounded or infrastructure damaged.

’PKK will not use Iraq to threaten Turkey’

Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who began a visit to Iran on Saturday, said his government would not allow Iraq to be used as a base to threaten its neighbors.

Maliki said Iraq “will not let any terrorist party harm its relations with neighboring governments” and named the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, that attacks Turkey from Iraq and PKK offshoot, the outlawed Party of Free Life of Kurdistan. Read the rest of this entry »



Kurdish terrorist jailed for life

A Turkish court Friday sentenced a member of terrorist PKK organization to life in prison without the chance of parole for a car bomb attack that killed seven people last year.

Erdal Polat, 24, confessed to being a member of the PKK, and obtaining the car used in the bombing, but denied detonating the vehicle.

The attack Jan. 3, 2008, in Diyarbakır, the largest city of Turkey’s mainly Kurdish populated Southeast, killed seven people.

Turkey sentences Diyarbakir PKK bomber to nine life terms

Turkish court Friday sentenced a PKK terrorist to nine consecutive life terms in solitary confinement without the possibility of parole for a car bomb attack that killed seven people last year.

The main bombing suspect, Erdal Polat, 23 at the time of the attack, faced charges of attempting to ruin the unity and integrity of the state, murder and helping the terrorist PKK organization.

Polat was accused of preparing and detonating a car bomb, which was caused by 40 kilograms of A-4 explosives, near a bus carrying soldiers. The explosion, also near a university entrance examination tuition center building, killed seven people – including six high school students – and injured 68. Read the rest of this entry »
