Turkish soldier dies in fight with PKK

A soldier was killed in a Turkish military operation against separatist terrorists in the town of Çukurca in Hakkari province on Monday. Cpl. Mustafa Güler, 23, who had started his military service just a month ago, was killed in an operation in Kazan Valley against members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Güler’s body was taken to Hakkari Military Hospital.

General Staff: Operations will continue

A spokesperson for Turkey’s General Staff said on Friday that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will continue its operations against the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). 

In a weekly press conference, Ferit Güler, secretary-general of the General Staff, responded to a question by a reporter about the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party’s (DTP) recent call to the TSK to stop operations against the PKK. Turkey mourns 10 soldiers slain within two days

The killing of 10 soldiers in three separate incidents in southeastern Turkey during clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Tuesday and yesterday has sent shockwaves across the country, where there are ongoing efforts to solve the country’s decades-long Kurdish problem. 
 
Seven of the soldiers were killed in Siirt and another one was killed in Hakkari on Tuesday, while the two others were killed in Van on Wednesday. Read the rest of this entry »



Eight Turkish soldiers die in terror attacks

Eight Turkish soldiers killed in two terrorist attacks on Tuesday in the southeastern Turkey, security sources said. 

The attacks come as the government is preparing reforms to address decades-old Kurdish complaints of discrimination which it hopes will erode support for the terrorist organization, and combat violence and poverty in the southeast.

Eleven out of 31 terrorists released in past two months

A spokesperson for Turkey’s General Staff said on Friday that 11 out of 31 terrorists who surrendered to security forces in the past two months have been released. 

In a weekly press conference, Metin Gürak, head of the communications department of the General Staff, added that 10 other terrorists were released pending trial and eight others were arrested. The remaining two are still facing judicial proceedings. Gürak complained that the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) continued its bloody acts though it declared a unilateral ceasefire in April. Read the rest of this entry »
