5 PKK members killed in clash in Bingöl
27 10 2009Five Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, members were killed when they clashed with military forces in the eastern province of Bingöl.
According to the Anatolia news agency, the members of the military were patrolling the area late Monday when they encountered a group of PKK members. They called upon the PKK members to “surrender,” and in response the group opened gunfire.
The incident also left one member of the security forces wounded; the soldier was airlifted to a military hospital in Elazığ. Two villagers taking care of their beehives were also wounded, reported Agence Presse-France.
