One soldier dies in Southeast Anatolia
15 04 2010One soldier was killed and two others injured in the southeastern province of Batman on Thursday, media reports said, during a series of violent conflicts between the military and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ party, or PKK.
The conflict erupted in the Tumok region of the province. At the onset of the conflict, Batman governor cancelled a public concert in the city.
Clashes had erupted in southeastern Anatolia between the military and the PKK on Wednesday night. Two PKK members were killed and two injured during the fight were captured in Siirt province, Doğan News Agency reported. Military operations against the PKK continued Thursday. Meanwhile, PKK opened fire over a civilian minibus carrying soldiers, injuring three on Wednesday night in Şırnak.
