Explosives seized in Diyarbakir were to be used in terrorist acts, governor

The governor of Turkey’s southeastern Diyarbakir province said on Sunday that the plastic explosives seized in a recent operation conducted in his city were to be used in terrorist attacks to be waged in Turkey’s major cities.

Holding a press conference at the headquarters of Diyarbakir Police Department, Governor Mustafa Toprak said that security forces, who had been waging operations to prevent terrorist attacks and PKK’s drug trafficking activities, had found nearly 65 kilograms of plastic explosives inside the LPG tank of a truck a couple of days ago. Turkish troop killed in clash with terrorists in southeastern Turkey

A senior corporal was killed in a clash with terrorists in southeastern Turkey.

The clash erupted between security forces and a group of terrorists in rural area near the town of Semdinli in Hakkari province. 26-year-old Emrah Yalim was killed in the clash.

Two Turkish soldiers killed by Kurdish rebel bomb: report

A bomb attack by Kurdish rebels killed two soldiers and wounded another Sunday in southeast Turkey, the Anatolia news agency reported.

The roadside bomb, planted by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants, was detonated by remote control on a road linking the towns of Nusaybin and Omerli in the province of Mardin, the report said. Soldiers launched a security sweep to catch the attackers. Read the rest of this entry »



Sabotage attack against BOTAS oil pipeline kills 2 & wounds 1

A sabotage attack against Petroleum Pipeline Corporation’s (BOTAS) oil pipeline in Idil town of south-eastern province of Sirnak has killed two people and wounded another on Tuesday.

Sources said that a fire erupted when PKK terrorists exploded a mine on the oil pipeline on Tuesday evening. Two vehicles passing by were also caught on fire. At least two people were burned to death and another one was wounded in the vehicles. Read the rest of this entry »



5 terrorists killed in Batman

Turkish security forces killed five terrorists in a clash in Besiri town of southeastern province of Batman on Monday.

In a statement issued, the Governor’s Office of Batman said that security forces killed five terrorists, including a female one, in a security operation in Besiri town on Monday. Two Turkish troops were wounded in the clash, it said.

Soldier, six Kurdish rebels killed in Turkey clashes: report

A Turkish soldier and six Kurdish rebels were killed Thursday in fresh fighting in the country’s east and southeast, Anatolia news agency reported.

Police also seized explosives in a car near Diyarbakir, the regional capital of the mainly Kurdish southeast, and detained two suspected militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), media reports said.

The fresh clashes come amid an escalation in rebel attacks since late May in their 26-year violent campaign for self-rule. Three Kurdish rebels, including a woman, were killed in a security sweep in a mountainous area in Hakkari province, which borders Iraq and Iran, governor Muammer Tumer told Anatolia. Four terrorists neutralized

Four terrorists were neutralized in a clash between members of the terrorist organization PKK and Turkish security forces in south-eastern province of Hakkari on Thursday.

In a written statement, the Governorship of Hakkari said that the clash took place at around 1830 hours on Thursday at Helin Valley.

Three terrorists and a police officer were killed in a clash in southeastern Turkey on Monday.

PKK terrorists attacked police department in Eruh town of Siirt province at around 10:00 p.m. with rocket launchers and later opened fire with long range weapons.

Three terrorists and a police officer were killed in the clash. Another police officer was wounded.

Land-mine blast kills four people in Batman

Four people died when they stepped on land-mine in southeastern province of Batman on Saturday.

A group of terrorists came to Guney Raman oil field on Saturday evening, opened oil valve and fired it. The terrorists also tied the two guards.

Four villagers who came to the spot to extinguish the fire and rescue the guards died when they stepped on land-mine.
