A radical Kurdish group claimed responsibility Thursday for a suicide attack in Istanbul at the weekend that wounded 32 people, in a statement posted on its website.
The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK) said Sunday’s attack at a police patrol in downtown Istanbul was an act of revenge “against the police force of Turkish fascism” and was organised and carried out by a member of its command.
TAK is a shadowy group that upholds jailed Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan as its “chairman” but says it is not linked to his Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has led a bloody 26-year campaign for self-rule in the Kurdish-majority southeast. Read the rest of this entry »

It was revealed that a member of the separatist terrorist organization PKK was responsible for the bomb attack in Istanbul’s central Taksim Square on Sunday. Security forces found out that 24 year-old Vedat Acar joined the PKK in 2004.
Istanbul Governor’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday that the suicide bomber, who detonated the device wrapped around his body near a police vehicle in the crowded square, was identified as 24-year-old Vedat Acar. Read the rest of this entry »

Greece is getting ready to shut down the Lavrion refugee camp which has been a safe haven for PKK terrorists for years.
Greek authorities took action upon reactions in the international arena over news suggesting that the Lavrion camp served as a base opening into Europe in human trafficking. Greek government warned the refugees in the camp it would prohibit the entry of all life materials including food stuff, clothing and medicine and the camp would be closed down. Turkey’s Director-General of Security Oguz Kagan Koksal said that number of injured people increased to 32 in Sunday morning’s bomb attack in Istanbul’s Taksim Square.
