Turkey sends note to French Interior and Foreign Ministeries on PKK

Turkey’s Embassy in Paris sent a note to the French Interior and Foreign Ministries regarding terrorist organization PKK’s demonstrations and rallies in Paris last week.

Diplomatic sources told the AA correspondent in Paris that the Turkish note was intended to draw the attention of French authorities vis-a-vis PKK rallies, including one that was conducted in front of the Turkish Embassy and Zaman daily’s Paris office last week. Read the rest of this entry »



Turkish military renews raids on PKK bases in Iraq: army

Turkish jets bombed bases in northern Iraq used by the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in a fresh campaign last week that killed as many as 160 rebels, the military said Monday.

“Based on the results of exploration and target analysis work held between August 23-24, Turkish air force jets efficiently hit targets of the separatist terror organisation in the Zap and Gara regions between August 25-28 in 21 sorties,” the military said in a statement. Turkey’s EU minister says Turkish-Danish relations overshadowed by ROJ-TV

The Turkish minister in charge of affairs with the European Union (EU) said on Wednesday that developments regarding ROJ-TV overshadowed the relations between Turkey and Denmark.

Turkish EU Minister & Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis received Danish Ambassador to Turkey Ole Egberg Mikkelsen in capital Ankara.

Iraqi diplomat: Turkish cross-border crackdown on PKK fine by Baghdad as long as it is by the book

Iraqi ambassador in Ankara has said Baghdad government would sanction a cross-border operation by Turkish ground forces to hunt down PKK terrorists in Iraq’s north, which the terrorist organization uses as a launchpad to attack targets inside Turkey.

This is not an easy question to answer but as you know everything between the two countries must happen in line with the agreements we signed earlier. If it is by the book, anything is fine by us. 15 soldiers injured in landmine attack in SE Turkey

Suspected members of the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party, or PKK, detonated explosives next to a convoy carrying troops in the province of Hakkari in southeast Turkey on Thursday.

Initial information indicated an explosive device detonated by remote control caused the blast, which damaged a minibus carrying soldiers at around 7 a.m. local time.

U.S. Department Of State On Operation in Northern Iraq

The U.S. Department of State has said about Turkey’s air offensive against PKK targets in north Iraq that they recognized Turkey’s right of self-defense.
Victoria Nuland, spokesperson for the Department of State, told a daily press briefing, “we understand these air strikes were conducted, we recognize Turkey’s right of self-defense, we urge Turkey and Iraq to maintain close contact on these issues and to cooperate.” Read the rest of this entry »



Security forces kill four terrorists in east

Security forces killed four PKK terrorists in the eastern provinces of Tunceli and Siirt.

During ongoing operations against PKK terrorists, security forces killed one terrorist in Eruh town and two others in Pervari town of Siirt.

Turkish military says 9 security forces killed in attack in Hakkari

Turkish military has said that eight troops and a village guard were killed in Wednesday’s heinous attack in southeastern Turkey.

The General Staff said in a statement posted on its web-site on Thursday, “the separatist terrorist organization staged an attack on a military convoy on the highway between Hakkari and the town of Cukurca. Eight troops and a village guard were killed in the attack and 15 others were injured. One of the injured is in life-threatening condition.” Read the rest of this entry »

Eight soldiers killed in Turkey’s southeast

Turkish National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz said on Wednesday that eight soldiers were killed in a roadside mine blast on Hakkari-Cukurca highway.

“There is nothing they can get from the Republic of Turkey. The Republic of Turkey is the leader in its region in terms of economy and military. They are trying to test our patience.
