Turkish security forces kill 15 terrorists in southeastern Turkey

Turkish security teams killed 15 terrorists in southeastern province of Sirnak, governor’s office said on Tuesday.

Turkey arrests 100 over Kurdish rebel links

Turkish police made around 100 arrests on Monday in a major new nationwide operation targeting union leaders and activists over their links to Kurdish rebels, television channels reported.

Police raided offices and homes in Istanbul, Ankara and Diyarbakir, the main city in Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast, NTV and CNN-Turk reported. Raids also took place in six other cities.

The operation was part of a wider legal offensive against the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK), a union regarded by the authorities in Ankara as the political wing of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Read the rest of this entry »



Clashes leaves 13 Kurdish rebels, one Turkish soldier dead

Thirteen Kurdish rebels and one Turkish soldiers were killed Thursday in clashes in southeastern Turkey, Anatolia news agency reported, quoting local officials.

One soldier was killed and six wounded overnight when rebels from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) opened fire on an army unit near Cukurca, close to the Iraqi border, Hakkari provincial governor Muammer Turker told Anatolia.

“Our forces fired back and fighting went on for about an hour and a half. The terrorists then escaped under cover of darkness, while we recovered the bodies of four of them,” he added.

A second clash, also overnight, occurred in Ilica, Bingol province, where security forces stormed a house occupied by rebels, local authorities told Anatolia. Read the rest of this entry »

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury on Wednesday declared Zeyneddin Geleri, Cerkez Akbulut and Omer Boztepe residing in Moldova as Specially Designated Narcotics Trafficker (SDNT) and individuals with connections to the terrorist organization PKK.
